Interpersonal relationship series
The link we maintain with our environment defines us and condition us when it comes to perceiving ourselves. The relationships correspond to the way we used to connect with the object of our childhood, which have allowed us to identify, interpret, learn roles and have fun, thus generating emotional attachment and perception of security provided by the interaction with a known object.
Suffering

Our wills and desires fit with those of others, creating bonds and connections between us.This define and limits us, consequently creating our own image and that of theres another and not achieving it leads us to pain and suffering, no matter how much we want to hide it under an expressionless and cold face, as if it were a plastic doll.
I find it relevant to highlight that the characters in the work are a collectible figure of Rei Ayanami and a red-haired girl who refers to the character of Asuka Langley Soryu, both belonging to the 1995 Japanese animated series Neon Genesis Evangelion. Throughout the story, a tension generated by jealousy and indifference is maintained between them, making it impossible for them to generate a genuine bond.
I did this work with oil on a frame to which I first applied successive layers of gesso and sanded until I achieved a completely smooth surface. This, added to the fact of having used super thin layers of paint without any texture, gives it a completely smooth finish, almost with a print appearance.

Saturnine essence

She wanted to avoid the inevitable, she was blinded by rage and despair. With her mind lost in the most superfluous aspects of the world, her heart could not grasp what was transcendent, or even discern what was happening to her: the correspondence of the stars with her being. stars arranged in such a way that would make her travel a turbulent, violent, angry path. Long ago, this omen had reached her ears , and the fact of wanting to avoid it led her to the event, which is inexorable, inescapable, decreed by the very spirit that underlies everything. The number five, symbolizing regeneration, is in the center of the magic square of order three. From the latter derives the seal of Saturn, located behind the protagonist´s back, as if it were smoking incense that seeks to impregnate her essence.
The stars located behind the character are not arranged randomly: it is the location of the celestial bodies on the date of the beginning of the last pandemic. This work has been the beginning of my great love for astrology.
In terms of technical aspects, this work has a particularity. I have done the entire area of the skin with a very light grisaille, with lead white and raw umber. Then I applied successive layers of translucent oil paint until I obtained the desired tone and value. The rest of the work has been done with two or three thin layers of oil paint, mostly opaque and only transparencies to adjust the value at the end. This gives the skin a finish that is distinguished from the rest of the work, only noticeable in person, due to the superimposition of transparent layers and its micro depth.
